Last Week in Brisbane

I’ve neglected taking too many photos this week so I will keep it short and sweet! Having only arrived home the day before, on Saturday we headed out of the city a little for an afternoon of Horse Riding that Erin had arranged for us before we left the UK. It was a nice couple of hours riding through the Farmland local to the stables and, aside from our aches and pains from Kayaking in Byron Bay last week, great fun!

Since then it has been a bit of a quieter week. We have taken the opportunity to have a bit of down time and have had a few walks, with and without the dog. On Tuesday we joined headed off to a SportUPs Volley Ball session which is run by Nicola’s cousin Sam for a nice social game. I really enjoyed it and it was great to let off some steam!

Brisbane Story Bridge Climb 1We also tackled Brisbane’s Story Bridge climb. There are only three bridge climbs in the world: Brisbane’s Story Bridge, Sydney’s Harbour Bridge and Auckland’s Harbour Bridge. We thought it would be a great change up from just doing Sydney’s Harbour Bridge to try and get all three of them ticked off. We managed to book ourselves a time slot that put our climb at the perfect timing for seeing the sunset, but either way its a great way to see the city and to learn about the bridge which has a bit of character to it’s back story.

We also managed to meet up with Erin again and, along with her sister, we headed to Eat Street Markets – an awesome little food market just outside of town! On our way back we stopped off to see the beautiful Roma Street park lands and swung by a lookout to get a last bit of Brisbane before we head off.

Seeing as it was the Wimbledon final last night Sam, Emma, Nikki and me decided to pool together and create a little Wimbledon Evening. In all fairness Emma made the night cooking Fish and Chips, Scones and cupcakes for us all to share. Add a little bit of Pimms and we had a fun night in infront of the box to say goodbye.

We’re just about to pick up our second camper, this one is a little bit bigger and we’ve got it for a month, for a low meander north until we reach Cairns. We have a load of time to reach Cairns so hopefully we’ll get to make lots of stops up the Sunshine Coast to do a bit of beaching!
